How can i find a local senior walking group that actually meets regularly?

I’m trying to find a local walking group for seniors that actually meets regularly. My mom just moved here and is feeling isolated, but every group I find online seems to have stopped meeting since the pandemic or the contact number is disconnected.

I looked for a walking group near mom and it felt like a ghost town after the pandemic. I called the senior center and the library but the numbers were no longer in service and messages never got returned. A friend said there was a group that met in the park but that faded out a few months ago. It was hard to tell what happened and the update page never reflected it.

I tried a different tack by showing up at a community garden chat and a few seniors joined for a casual stroll on the weekend. The turnout was so inconsistent that we stopped scheduling and everyone drifted away. It left me frustrated and unsure what to try next.

Maybe the real blocker is outdated contact info not the group itself so an in person stop at the community center or library could connect you with someone who actually knows what is happening this week.

Do you think starting with one steady neighbor to walk with would make more sense than chasing a group that keeps changing meetups?
