How can i fix permission denied running a script in wsl after copying?

I’ve been trying to get my head around the Windows Subsystem for Linux, specifically how it handles file permissions between the two systems. I copied a script from my Windows desktop into the Linux home directory, but it won’t execute, saying permission denied, even though it worked fine before the move.
