How can I fix the dxgi_error_device_hung crash mid-fight?

I keep getting a DirectX error that says "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" right when I’m in the middle of a big fight. My screen freezes and then the game just closes. I’ve updated my graphics drivers, but it didn’t help at all. Has anyone else managed to get past this specific crash?

That DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG line showed up for me in a fight as well I had updated drivers but the crash kept happening I tried turning down a lot of settings and I capped the frame rate and ran in fullscreen mode It did not fix it every time but the freezes were less frequent for a while

I wonder if the issue is not the error itself but overheating or power or a memory leak in the game I watched temps and clocks during combat and saw the gpu spiking before the screen went blank After a few long sessions it still crashed so I am not sure it is only a driver problem

A friend of mine had the same problem and they rolled back to an older driver and it helped on their setup It did not guarantee a fix but it surprised me

Maybe the root cause is not clear and it could be something slipping through like a dx path or background software I might try a different game or a clean boot next to rule out other stuff but I am not sure that is the real problem
