How can i get my resume past applicant tracking systems?
#1
I’m trying to figure out how to get my resume past the automated tracking systems companies use now. I’ve tailored my content and used the right verbs, but I’m not getting any callbacks and I’m starting to wonder if the layout itself is causing the software to misread my experience sections.

I swapped to a plain one column layout and cut anything like headers with graphics. I kept the sections simple and used standard titles. I saved a plain text version and compared how it read in the scanning. It looked consistent across systems and I felt the parser behaved predictable for once.

I did drop the fancy formatting and moved dates to the same line as the roles. I removed tables and kept bullets with short sentences. I also ran a quick test by pasting the content into a plain text editor and into a basic resume parser to see what it pulled out. It gave me more of the key job titles.

One time I tried to add a short summary at the top but the recruiter said the ATS skipped it. I then doubled down on the exact keywords from the job description and the skills section. It felt like chasing a moving target and I still did not hear back.

Could the real blocker be something else beyond the format?
