How can I grow my YouTube audience with video essays?
#1
I’ve been trying to build a consistent audience by posting my video essays, but my growth has completely stalled. I’m putting in the work on research and editing, yet my subscriber count barely moves and my videos aren’t getting pushed. I’m starting to wonder if my fundamental approach to content is just not what the algorithm wants.

I hear you. I’ve been in the same boat for months. I publish three long video essays a week and the numbers just sit there. I check watch time and retention, and the intros aren’t pulling in viewers, so I tried tightening the opening and making the first frame feel urgent, but it didn’t move the overall growth.

I swapped to punchier thumbnails and snappier titles, cut some videos into shorter clips between the main pieces, and even kept a small recurring format, but the growth curve still looks the same.

Maybe your topic isn’t a broad draw, or maybe the algorithm is noise. I kept thinking it was me, but after a few months I realized I was never truly building an engaged core audience, just chasing views.

Could it be that the problem isn’t the content at all, maybe timing or platform fatigue, or something you can’t control?
