How can I help my toddler's picky eating without a food fight?

I’m really struggling with my toddler’s sudden refusal to eat anything that isn’t beige. Just last week she loved peas and sweet potato, but now it’s only crackers, plain pasta, and toast. I worry she’s not getting the nutrients she needs, but every meal turns into a battle if I try to introduce something new or colorful. Has anyone else gone through this phase and found a gentle way to expand their child’s palate without making it a power struggle?

Had this exact thing last month. My kid would only touch beige stuff and meals turned into a shouting match. We started tiny wins: one bite of something new alongside two familiar favorites, no pressure, and I kept meals calm at the same time every day. A week later she nibbled a little of the new veggie and it felt like real progress, even though it was tiny.

Same here, crackers and plain pasta ruled for a while. We tried letting her see me cook and taste things, offered dips, and kept the mood light with silly plates, not forcing. After a few days she accepted a bite of cucumber with hummus, but only if it looked like the cracker next to it.

Could it be that the real problem isn't the color at all?

I keep drifting back to the idea that mood and sleep are the real throttle; on rough days she eats worse no matter what. We kept the rainbow plate on the table but didn’t press, then tried focusing on textures instead of flavors, and it helped a bit, but the pattern still changes day to day.
