How can i improve map awareness to avoid rotations in ranked play?

I’ve been trying to improve my map control in ranked, but I keep getting caught out by rotations I didn’t see coming. My team says I need better map awareness, but I’m not sure how to build that habit when I’m already focused on my aim and cooldowns in a fight.

I used to get blindsided by rotations all the time. I finally tried a tiny habit: after each round I’d quickly run through who could rotate from common angles and where the enemy pressure tends to come from. Then during the next skirmish I’d glance at the minimap every few seconds, not constantly. It cut down the loud rotates catching me off guard.

I know the feeling. I focused on aim and cooldowns and still got flanked. The first couple of times I heard footsteps behind me while I was chasing a pick. I told myself I’d pay attention next time, but it’s hard to switch mindsets midfight.

I tried labeling lanes in my head and tracking where our team is on the map, but it felt like data overload. Some nights I’d stare at the map and freeze, and then the enemy walked right into our site anyway.

Do you feel the real ask is about map info or is it that your team pace and calls pull you into fights you can’t back out of?
