How can i improve team awareness and positioning in ranked play?
#1
I’ve been trying to get better at ranked, but I keep hitting a wall where my aim feels fine but my positioning gets me killed first in every team fight. I watch my replays and see the same mistake: I’m never with my team when it matters. How do you even start to build that awareness in the middle of a chaotic match?

I used to think my aim was the blocker, but my replays showed I kept drifting away from the team as soon as a fight started. I started glancing at the mini map every couple of seconds and I began pinging threats or calls for help. It felt silly at first, but after a week it started feeling like second nature, and I actually survived the chaotic moments more often.

I tried to plug the gaps by changing my default position in fights. When we lose a skirmish early, I remind myself not to chase the fluff and to peel instead. It helped a bit, but then I over-rotated and got caught in a crossfire anyway. It’s a feel thing, not a math problem.

Do you think the real issue is the chaos in the moment, or is it something bigger like how we communicate or how I read the map under pressure?

I once set a tiny rule: stay with someone in the frontline for the first two seconds of a fight, even if it means missing a poorly timed kill. It didn’t fix everything, but I noticed fewer cringe moments where I’d get picked off trying to chase a play.
