How can i improve the visual flow and hierarchy in my poster design?

I’ve been trying to improve the visual flow of my poster designs, but I keep getting stuck on how to effectively guide the viewer’s eye from the primary focal point to the secondary information. My latest piece for a local event just feels like the hierarchy is off, and the composition isn’t leading people through the details smoothly. I’m wondering if others struggle with this and what specific techniques you use to create a clear visual path.

Yeah, I’ve chased that same feeling. I found giving the primary focal point more white space and nudging the eye with a subtle diagonal line helped, even if the change was tiny.

I went hard on a grid and used a single color cue to steer toward the details, but sometimes the eye still wandered.

I once cropped aggressively for negative space and then printed a rough version to look at it from a distance; the flow looked different but the hierarchy still felt muddy in person.

Do you think the problem is the copy weight or the image you picked?
