How can i keep a steady video essay schedule without losing depth?

I've been trying to build a consistent posting schedule for my video essays, but I keep hitting a wall where my editing process just takes way longer than the actual scripting and filming. How do you all manage to keep a steady output without sacrificing the depth of your long-form content?

I started batching editing into two half‑day blocks. Script and filming feel quick, editing still gobbles the week, so I set a hard two half‑days and move on with a finished cut.

Feels familiar. I’ve spent ages on a single scene—timing, color, B‑roll—and the rest of the video falls behind. I tried stricter deadlines, and it just piled on pressure without fixing the pacing.

Do you think the issue is depth or is it that the editing workflow just doesn’t line up with your energy?

I did hire a buddy to do a light pass, but the notes looped back to me anyway. Now I keep a tiny pacing checklist and I stop revising after the first two rounds.
