I’m trying to run a small art giveaway for my followers, but I’m stuck on how to pick a winner fairly. I’ve seen people use random comment pickers, but I’m worried that might not seem transparent enough to the people who enter.

I tried a simple public draw last time I saved the comment list and used a random seed I announced ahead of time then I showed the numbering and the winner in a short video It felt fair to some folks but I still worried some people might doubt it

Maybe the bigger issue is trust not the tool Some folks want a human visible process a live stream a timer and a clear rules page

I went with a screen shot of the winner and a quick caption but there were folks who asked for more proof so I posted the seed and the exact method in the follow up post

I kept a simple log of actions and ran the draw after 24 hours of comments Then I measured engagement the next day and compared it to the day before to see if the draw boosted activity

Drifted for a bit I thought about letting people vote but that would turn into a vote on who is loud not who deserves the art and that felt wrong

I tried a small test with a friend and the draw felt a bit different It made me doubt if the signal was real or just a favor I am not sure

Would a live draw on stream help or is a posted video enough
