How can I protect my gut while taking antibiotics?
#1
I’ve been prescribed a course of antibiotics for a stubborn sinus infection, but I’m worried about how it might affect my gut. I’ve heard these medications can really disrupt the natural balance down there, and I’m not sure what to expect or if there’s anything I should be watching for while I take them.

I had a similar thing last year after a round of antibiotics for a sinus infection. My gut felt off for about three days with bloating and looser stool. I stuck to plain foods, drank water, and it slowly settled after a few days.

When I took the pills I noticed more upset on days I took them on an empty stomach, so I tried to eat a little first and that helped a bit.

I did not keep up with any probiotic plan every day, life got busy and the gut stuff lingered a bit. It was a mix of small gurgles and occasional gas.

Do you think a probiotic would help and when would you start it?
