how can i set up a secondary approval path in sharepoint workflows?
#1
I’m trying to set up a system where our field service reports automatically populate the correct client folders in SharePoint, but I keep hitting a snag with the approval step. The workflow pauses until a manager reviews it, but sometimes that person is out and everything just stalls. I’m wondering if there’s a way to build in a secondary approval path without creating a confusing mess of conditional branches.

I tried a similar thing last quarter and we ended up adding a second path that kicks in when the main approver is away it kept things moving.

We set up a rotating delegated approver group and the system auto routes when the original is out and it cut the stalls by a couple of days.

Im not sure the real problem is the approval step or the folder tagging in SharePoint it just felt like the queue froze until someone looked in.

Do you think a quick deputy approval would unblock it?
