Hi everyone. I just moved here and I'm honestly a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out where to start meeting people. I joined this forum hoping to get my bearings, but I'm not sure how to jump into conversations without seeming like I'm intruding.

I felt the same way when I moved last year. I kept it small—saying hi to neighbors in the hallway, then I joined a weekend volunteer cleanup. People were surprised but nice, and showing up consistently helped me slip into conversations.

I tried a local meetup for casual chats at a coffee shop. I introduced myself with my name and one detail about a hobby I have, and I showed up again the next week. After a couple sessions I actually texted someone about a local trail we talked about and we met up.

Are we sure the issue is really about meeting people, or is it that we're not lingering in places long enough to let conversations grow?
