How can i stay hooked on reading and finish more books?
#1
I’ve been trying to get into reading more, but I keep picking up books and abandoning them after a chapter or two. It’s not that they’re bad, I just can’t seem to stick with anything long enough to get hooked. Has anyone else hit a wall like this and found a way through it?

Yeah, I’ve been there. I’d pick up something and bail after a chapter or two too. I started doing tiny goals, like 10 pages or 15 minutes, only if it felt easy that day. Some days that meant stopping at a line I actually liked, and that helped me stay in the chair long enough for it to spark.

Could it be the books themselves aren’t clicking, not the habit? I kept blaming myself until I tried something shorter and sharper and still fizzled out.

I tried a bunch of titles, none of them stuck. The one that did click was a short-story collection I could finish in a couple of train rides, and that tiny win kept me going for a week or two before the next stumble.

I also found value in audio formats during chores or walks; it let me feel like I was reading without chasing the page turn. Then I nudged myself to finish a short book before starting something longer.
