How can i stop my phone from hijacking my focus during everyday moments?
#1
I’ve been trying to cut back on my phone use, but I keep grabbing it without even thinking, like when I’m waiting for coffee or talking to my partner. It feels like my attention span is shot and I’m missing real moments, but the pull to just check something is automatic. Has anyone else found their focus just fragmented by this constant low-grade distraction?

Yeah I get that. I catch myself reaching for it while waiting for coffee too. My attention feels scattered for a few minutes after and I miss the small moments around me.

I tried leaving it in the bag during meals or chats and noticed I lasted longer than expected, like ten or fifteen minutes.

I keep wondering if the real problem is the device or the habit we create around it. Is the pull really about the device or about the need for instant answers? I tried a day with no notifications and the world felt slower, but I still touched the screen a few times out of habit.

Sometimes I tell myself to just put it down and wait, but it comes back in a minute. It is a small friction that wears you down over days.
