How can i sync my smart lights and thermostat routine?
#1
I’ve been trying to get my smart lights and thermostat to work together through a single routine, but the timing always feels off. The lights come on a full minute before the heat adjusts, which defeats the whole purpose of having a cohesive morning scene. I’m not sure if my hub is just slow or if I’ve set up the automation incorrectly.

I ran into this last month. The lights came on right away but the thermostat still waited a full minute. I even put a stopwatch on the scene and it read about 60 seconds between the trigger and the heat change. It felt like latency somewhere in the chain.

I tried trimming the automations, turning off other routines that touched the same devices, and it still lined up late. The gap stayed stubbornly around a minute.

Could be the hub itself or the thermostat update cycle. I kept thinking maybe the thermostat waits for its next poll, but I have no proof.

Maybe the real issue isn't the timing but what a cohesive morning scene should do. Do you want the warmth to ramp up together with the lights, or is it okay if the heat shifts a bit after the lights? Also I keep wondering if a separate automation that triggers the heat earlier would feel more natural, but that defeats the single routine idea.
