How can SI joint issues cause localized lower back pain?
#1
I’ve been having this strange, deep ache in my lower back for weeks now, and my doctor mentioned it could be related to the sacroiliac joint. It’s worse when I get up from sitting or roll over in bed, but I don’t remember any specific injury. Has anyone else dealt with something like this where the pain is so localized?

I had something like this a while back. deep localized ache in the lower back, mostly when I stood up or rolled over in bed. It sat in one spot and I didn’t recall a clear injury. It ended up being related to the sacroiliac joint. Heat helped, a few gentle hip stretches, and a couple PT sessions over a few weeks finally moved things in the right direction.

I’ve dealt with a similar thing where the pain stayed in one spot for weeks. It felt more like a local muscle or joint irritant than a nerve issue. After a short run of daily gentle stretches and a warm bath in the evenings, it softened a bit, though it took time and I wasn’t fully sure what did the trick.

Could this be just a sleep or mattress issue masquerading as back pain?

Sometimes I’d forget about it and then sneeze or roll the wrong way and it would flare up again. I tried changing pillow height and bed setup, which helped a little, but then my brain wandered to whether the problem is really the spine or something else in the hips.
