How can we stretch our grocery budget when prices keep rising?
#1
I’m trying to figure out if my family’s budget is just unusually tight or if others are seeing this too. Our grocery bill has jumped so much that we’re having to cut back on things like fresh produce just to afford the staples, and it feels like our weekly shop doesn’t stretch half as far as it did a year ago.

Yep, ours jumped too. Fresh produce and meat have been pricier than a year ago. We started tracking price per serving and swapped in cheaper options like beans and seasonal veggies when we can.

I keep wondering if maybe it’s not just prices. We’ve been cooking bigger portions and snacking more, so our weekly shop ends up looking different even if we try to stay on a budget.

I did a quick compare last month and noticed bread and breakfast staples rose faster than some basics, plus oil. Inflation seems real, but I’m not sure how to tell if it’s our family or the wider trend.

Sometimes I drift into blame games about store brands or coupons, then realize I didn’t solve the core issue. We tried shopping at a different store for a few weeks, totals were lower but it felt inconvenient.
