How did artists move from Cubism to Surrealism in their thinking?

I'm looking for dating and romance advice that actually helps build lasting connections rather than just creating temporary excitement. So much advice focuses on the early stages of dating, but I'm interested in how to build something that lasts.

Some dating and romance advice I've found helpful: focus on building friendship and emotional connection alongside romance, be willing to be vulnerable and share your real self (not just your "dating self"), and pay attention to how you handle conflicts and challenges together.

What dating and romance advice have you found most valuable for building lasting relationships? I'm tired of advice that's all about creating "spark" without considering what makes relationships sustainable long-term.

I’m trying to understand the shift in early 20th century painting from the clear, structured forms of Cubism to the more automatic and subconscious approach of Surrealism. My own painting feels stuck between wanting to deconstruct a subject and wanting to let something more unexpected emerge, but I can’t grasp how artists bridged that gap in their thinking.

I spent a week making quick studies of a face then tried to leave the unreliable moments where the plan broke down and the image surprised me.

In my studio the shift from clear form to chance came when I stopped chasing perfect structure and let accidental marks guide the next stroke.

One method I tried was setting a timer for ten minutes and restricting lines then watching for a motif that kept appearing without my intent.

Lately I drifted into thinking about Surrealism after a long stretch of tidy edges and I tried to let that dream like logic surface while still keeping the contour readable.

A mentor suggested letting the surface speak and not over explain the image so I kept a small sketchbook of things that failed and what still held.

Is the real problem here about needing both control and surrender at once or is the misfit between your idea and the way you paint the actual subject?
