How do i balance aggressive deep wards vs map control as a support?

I’ve been trying to improve my map control as a support player, but I feel like I’m just wandering during the mid-game and my vision gets cleared instantly. How do you decide when to be aggressive with deep wards versus just securing your own jungle when the enemy team has strong pick potential?

I used to wander mid game too. I started a tiny cadence: after resets I plant one safe ward near our bot side of the river, then I sweep our own jungle for vision, and I try not to chase fights blindly.

We tried deep wards once when our jungle was clear and we had a reliable leash, but I accidentally walked into a collapse and we lost a dragon attempt. After that I slowed way down and kept most of my wards closer.

I know the itch to pressure the enemy's rotations, but mid game I’m better off setting up safe triangles of vision around our buffs and dragon and then reacting. It feels boring but keeps you alive.

Sometimes I just push to my own jungle to reset, clear the nearby wards, and then look at the minimap for a real chance to trade.

Are you sure the problem isn't that you’re chasing picks or your own damage window, rather than the map?

I drifted into thinking about the timing too much and loosened after a few days; a more relaxed approach, letting the map push the decisions, helps me feel less scattered.
