How do I balance casual vibes with competitive play in our clan?
#1
I’m trying to get our clan to move from casual weekly raids into more structured competitive play, but half the group just wants to hang out and shoot the breeze. How do you handle that split without people getting salty or just quitting? I don’t want to force anyone, but I also really want to push for higher-tier content.

We split into two paths: a casual hangout raid night and a more strict, competitive play night. It was 100 percent opt-in, no penalties if you stayed with the casual group. It kept people from getting salty, but a few still complained about crossing between nights and some felt left out.

I tried to push the schedule hard, thinking more structure would equal better wins. Some folks quit midweek; others showed up but looked tired and resentful.

We started tracking attendance and boss kill rates on both tracks. The competitive night did improve metrics, but the vibe shifted; people who couldn't commit felt like they were failing or were tagging along, which wasn’t great.

Maybe the problem isn’t the mode at all, but the clan culture around feedback. We kept chasing buy-in instead of listening to what folks actually want; still not sure if we’re chasing the right thing.
