How do I commit to a career change without getting stuck in what-ifs?
#1
I’ve been feeling really stuck lately because I can’t seem to make a decision about changing careers without getting overwhelmed by all the “what ifs.” Every time I try to weigh the pros and cons, I just end up paralyzed, worrying I’ll pick the wrong path and regret it later. How do you finally commit to a choice when there’s no clear right answer?

I did a tiny experiment to stop the spinning. I picked the path that felt most alive to me and gave it 90 days. I kept a simple log of what energized me, what drained me, and one concrete milestone I could hit. It didn't clear every doubt, but by about day 45 I started to see what I was avoiding and what I actually could tolerate.

Sometimes the what ifs are louder than any plan, so I move anyway and adjust on the fly. I once tried to map out every outcome and got nowhere, then just started doing one small thing and measured how it went in a week.

Maybe the real problem isn't the career choice at all. It might be the safety net you are worried about losing, or the identity of who you are in your current job. I found when I shifted focus to what I could keep of my life during the change, the fear loosened a bit.

Are you sure the problem is the decision or that you are chasing a guarantee that does not exist? I keep wavering between certainty and chaos and I do not know.
