How do I decide between a Dark Urge origin run or a fresh party in Baldur's Gate 3?

I just finished my first playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3 and I'm already thinking about starting over, but I can't decide between a Dark Urge origin run or trying to min-max a completely different party composition. The sheer scope of meaningful choices has me paralyzed.

I went Dark Urge on my first rerun and it was both cool and brutal. The world kept pulling me into decisions I didn’t see coming, and every little choice felt whispered into a thread you can’t easily untie. I kept pausing to weigh which path would rhyme with the origin, and by the time I settled on something, a new hook pulled me elsewhere. It wasn’t a clean victory lap, just heavy flavor and a lot of sighing.

I tried a totally different party setup—frontline tank, ranger, sorcerer, healer type—and the numbers looked nice for a while, but some sessions I just felt aimless. The math was fine, but I kept wondering if I was enjoying the story or just chasing a higher damage ceiling.

Do you think the real problem is decision fatigue, or that you’re worried you’ll miss something if you commit to one run and stick with it?

I started keeping a notebook of little scenes I liked, then wandered into a side game for an hour, and when I came back I forgot what I was optimizing for again. Maybe the trick is not to solve it but to let the itch ride out for a while and see what you actually crave in the next run.
