How do I fix Android Auto map freezing on wireless projection?
#1
I’m trying to get my phone’s navigation to show up on my car’s center screen via Android Auto, but the map keeps freezing after a few minutes while the audio directions keep playing. Has anyone else had this specific glitch with the wireless projection, and did you find it was a phone setting or something with the car’s software?

That sounds exactly like the flaky Android Auto wireless projection I ran into last month. The map would freeze after a few minutes but the voice directions kept talking. I updated my phone to the latest Android version and checked for a head unit firmware update, then re paired the connection. It helped, but it didn’t completely go away. Sometimes tapping the screen would unfreeze it for a minute, then it would stall again.

I tried turning off a few apps I thought were hogging memory and did a fresh reconnect in the Bluetooth/WiFi settings, plus a reboot of the car's system. It seemed a bit more stable for a few drives, but the freezing still shows up sometimes when I start from cold.

Have you checked if your phone and car software are both up to date?

One time I drifted off topic a bit and started listening to a podcast instead, and the map froze anyway when I looked back. It reminded me that the problem feels bigger than the screen sometimes. I ended up using wired projection for a while because the wireless version was too flaky.
