How do I gauge demand for a home baker subscription box without building it?
#1
I’m trying to figure out if my idea for a subscription box for home bakers has any real demand, but I’m stuck on how to gauge interest without building anything. I ran a simple ad pointing to a landing page describing the concept and collected emails, but the conversion rate was so low I’m not sure if it’s a bad idea or I just tested it poorly.

I tried something like that a while back. I had a landing page for a monthly bakery kit and the signups were basically curiosity rather than serious buyers. It felt more like interest than intent.

In hindsight the test might have been off. I changed the headline three times and still saw the same lukewarm click through. The design looked fine but it was not connecting the dots between a problem and a solution.

I did a quick test with a free recipe pack and a social post plus a small ad budget. It brought in a few emails but almost none turned into anything actionable. I learned the audience keeps saying they already have too many boxes in their feed.

A lot of bakers I know want new ideas but not the commitment of a monthly thing. Maybe the real pull is surprisingly specific like a quarterly box with a single high value tool rather than a monthly box. I am not sure this is scalable though.

I did talk to a few people who bake at home about what would actually make them subscribe. The feedback was inconsistent, some liked the idea of curated recipes, others wanted more flexibility. I kept thinking maybe I am solving the wrong problem entirely.

Could the issue be that I tested it with an email capture and not with a real offer or pricing? I feel stuck.
