How do I get my journaling motivation back after hitting a wall?
#1
I’ve been keeping a journal for years, but lately I feel like I’m just writing the same things over and over. It’s starting to feel like a chore instead of something meaningful, and I’m not sure what to do to get that spark back. Has anyone else hit a wall with their journaling practice and found a way through it?

Yeah, I’ve been there. I started treating the journal like a tiny experiment instead of a diary. I limited myself to three sentences a day and let the rest slide. The first week felt pointless, and I’m not sure it’ll keep helping.

I pulled out a notebook and wrote about a hallway I walk past every morning, including the sounds and smells. It felt odd but it woke me up to details I’d missed.

I even tried writing in the margins of a book I wasn’t finished with, just to break the ritual a bit. Then I remembered I enjoy drawing tiny doodles, so I added them to a page, and that made it feel lighter.

Do you think the problem is the practice itself or what you expect to get from it?
