How do i handle sentimental items in a capsule wardrobe?
#1
I’ve been trying to reduce my wardrobe to a true capsule collection, but I’m stuck on what to do with a few sentimental items that don’t fit the system. They don’t spark joy in the usual way, but letting them go feels like I’m losing a piece of my personal history.

I tucked the sentimental pieces into a small box and hid it on the back of a high shelf. Not gone, just out of sight. It stings when I notice it, but the urge to save everything faded after a few weeks.

I photographed each item, wrote a 2-3 sentence memory for later, and let the actual items go to a thrift bag. The photos live in a digital album I can flip through when I want the story, not the garment.

Do you think the real issue is the memory attached to the thing, or is the problem more about how much space the memory takes up in daily life?
