How do I keep Mafia games balanced when the Werewolf rules seem to win?

I keep trying to get my friends into a good old-fashioned game of Mafia, but someone always argues that the Werewolf rules are better. It’s the same core game to me, but they insist the roles are more balanced and it’s causing a real stalemate every game night.
