How do I know if my home blood pressure readings are accurate?
#1
I’ve been trying to track my blood pressure at home, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it right. My readings are all over the place, and I can’t tell if it’s my technique, the time of day, or just normal variation.

I've tried tracking for a couple weeks. I use the same cuff, sit with back supported, feet uncrossed, arm at heart level, and measure first thing in the morning and before bed. Readings swing from about 115/72 to 142/88.

I started doubting the cuff size; a proper fit mattered. Old cuff pinched or was loose, and that changed the numbers. I switched to a cuff that fits my arm and noticed less erratic readings, but there’s still variation.

Maybe the device itself is off; I had two devices and one would give wildly different numbers with the same setup. I stopped using the second and marked which one was in use, but it still felt unreliable.

Could it be that the real issue isn’t the technique but normal week to week variation, and I’m chasing a pattern that isn’t there?
