I’ve been trying to make a major life decision, and I keep getting stuck because I’m so worried about regretting my choice later. How do you actually know when you’ve gathered enough information to move forward?

Kept a tiny decision log for a while. I wrote down what would still be true three years from now and what I could tolerate in the near term. Even with the log, I still woke up doubting, but the gaps in my reasoning shrank a bit as time moved on.

I tried absorbing every blog and expert tip, then picked the option that felt ‘lighter’ and ran with it. It didn’t fix the doubt, but some days it paid off and other days the same loop came back.

I would take a long walk and listen to what came up first. Often it circled back to money worries or family expectations, and I’d realize I was chasing a version of certainty that wasn’t real. After a few weeks, I started noticing when the mind was just tired.

I did a hard deadline and told myself I’d move forward even if it wasn’t perfect, and only pull back if the outcome looked truly unbearable. It helped a bit, but I still don’t know if that was the right move. Could it be that the real problem isn’t the decision but something else entirely?
