How do I spot buying signals in a negotiation without overthinking?
#1
I’ve been trying to get better at reading a room during a sales negotiation, but I keep missing subtle cues that the other party is ready to move forward. Last week, I think I talked right past a buyer’s clear buying signal because I was so focused on my next rebuttal. How do you learn to spot those moments without overthinking it?

I learned to slow down and watch the buyer. I look for small tells like a nod a lean forward or a quiet question that comes after I pause. If I rush I miss the moment.

Last week I tried giving space after my main pitch. I saw a shoulder drop and a longer breath from one person. Then later a simple yes came and it felt tiny and real but I still second guess myself.

I am not sure if I am seeing signals or just guessing. I want a simple rule but it never feels simple enough. I think I should test more but I am unsure how.

Are we chasing the moment too much? Maybe the real problem is the prep not the moment. I notice a lot of deals stall before we get to the offer if I feel rushed
