How do I spot hidden sugars on labels when shopping?
#1
I’m trying to cut back on sugar, but I keep getting tripped up by all the different names for it on ingredient lists. Just yesterday, I bought what I thought was a plain yogurt, only to find it had cane juice and brown rice syrup. How do you even start to navigate that when you’re trying to make a quick choice at the store?

I started by reading the label for the added sugar line and comparing per serving.

I grab plain yogurt and mix in fruit and nuts at home, fast and messy. If the label has a lot of long names, I put it back.

I tried a zero sweetener brand once and the texture was off; ended up sticking with the regular stuff in smaller portions.

Do you think the real issue is not the names but that we want a quick win and skip reading labels altogether?
