How do I stop overthinking my tone in text messages?
#1
I’ve noticed that when I’m typing a message to a friend, I’ll sometimes pause and delete whole sentences because I’m worried my tone might be read the wrong way. It makes even casual chats feel like work, and I wonder if I’m overthinking it or if others get stuck in this same loop.

Yep I do that. I’ll delete a whole sentence and second guess the vibe. Sometimes I’m sure it’s fine and I still scrub it.

I tried writing shorter messages and sending them faster. It helped a bit, but then I overcorrected and sounded curt.

Sometimes I wonder if the problem is really me or the other person reading into things. Maybe we project intentions?

I stopped trying to perfect every sentence and just sent it, even if it felt a little blunt.

I keep a little tone check in my head like if it would sound sharp in person, I soften it a notch.

There are days it clicks, days it doesn't. I notice I read messages differently than others read mine.
