How do I survive the final boss AoE to unlock the Untouchable achievement?

I'm trying to get the "Untouchable" achievement in the new raid, but I keep getting clipped by the boss's area-of-effect attack during the final phase. I've watched a few videos and my gear is right, but I can't seem to find a consistent safe spot for my character class.

I tried the last phase and kept getting clipped while chasing the Untouchable achievement. I ended up hugging the edge on the boss's far side, and I moved diagonally away as soon as the hit cue started. It felt like I needed perfect timing more than a fixed safe spot.

For what it's worth, I checked a few videos and then decided to stop chasing a single spot. I focused on small micro-movements every fraction of a second and that seemed to help a bit, but it still felt random.

One thing that helped a little was locking in a dodge window in my head and not re-positioning until after the big animation. Not a guarantee, but the hits felt less punishing when I did that.

Question: do you think latency or desync could be making it worse? I sometimes wonder if my client is registering hits late even when I feel clear.
