How do i time the shield phase to beat the final boss consistently?

I’m stuck on the final boss of the new expansion and I can’t figure out the timing for the shield phase. Every time I think I’ve got the pattern, he does a different combo and my party wipes before we can even get him to half health. Has anyone else managed to consistently get past this part?

We finally did it last night after a bunch of wipes. The shield phase has a tiny tell: as soon as the big combo finishes, the shield pops for about two seconds. We had a couple people prep interrupts and we timed DPS to hit during that window. After a few tries we found a rhythm and the rest fell into place.

I know the feeling. It felt like the pattern shifted every run. We’d think we had it, then the shield timing wandered and the party melted. Maybe the problem isn’t the timing alone.

We did a test run where we ignored the health bar for one full phase and just watched for the shield window. It helped, but only a bit. Still nothing consistent.

Question: are you sure the issue is the shield window and not the adds that spawn during it?
