How do i write a good intro post when i'm new to town?

I just moved to a new city and joined this forum to try and meet people, but I'm honestly not sure how to start. My intro post feels a bit awkward, like I'm just listing facts about myself without any real way to connect.

Yeah I get that. I moved last year and my intro felt like a resume. I rewrote it to mention a thing I actually did that week and floated a local meetup idea. People responded and I met someone for a walk later.

I remember thinking I should sound cool, then realized people connect over simple things. I started saying what I actually did that weekend and asked a tiny question at the end. Not a science, but it helped me feel less bland.

I tried a very direct approach: 'Hey, I moved here too, what's your favorite coffee spot?' It got a couple responses but not a big ripple. Still, I learned to be specific rather than generic.

Sometimes I wonder if the real problem is not the post but finding something to do together. I drifted into talking about a random hobby in a post once and got nothing, then I circled back to asking about a local event.
