How do you decide whether to reload after a big branching choice in an RPG?

I just finished my first playthrough of the new RPG and I'm stuck on whether to reload an old save. I made a major story choice hours ago that locked me out of an entire companion questline, and now I'm wondering if seeing that content is worth replaying such a huge chunk of the game.

I did something similar once. I pushed past the choice and then kept thinking about that companion arc for hours. Eventually I started a new game and replayed about 12 to 15 hours to unlock it. It was a lot, but the scenes with that character felt worth it to me, even if it meant redoing chunks I’d already finished.

I stayed on my original path and refused to reload. I missed the companion stuff, but I finished the game and felt okay about it. If you value that character a lot, the replay might be worth it; otherwise the rest of the game still lands.

I’m not sure the real problem is the lost quest so much as the pressure to see every thread. Maybe the arc wasn’t as great as you expect, or maybe you’re just tired from the first playthrough. Either way, you might be overestimating how much you’ll gain by redoing a huge chunk.

Do you feel the missing content would actually change how you view the story, or is the fear of missing something driving the urge to reload?
