How do you solve the tougher emoji song puzzles when clues are vague?

I’ve been trying to get better at those “guess the song from the emoji” puzzles, but I keep getting stuck on ones that feel way too vague. Like, someone used ?? and I was thinking “car honey” for ages before I found out it was “Baby Driver.” How are you supposed to figure that out?

I know the feeling. I used to overanalyze the obvious bits. Now I treat puzzles like a mini scavenger hunt for vibes rather than wordplay. I look for shared associations, not direct synonyms. So with a car plus honey I’d ask what pop culture thing mixes driving energy with sweetness in a recognizable title, then test a few candidates instead of locking onto one literal read.

One time I spent ages on a vague one, chasing 'car' and 'honey' until I realized the clue was about the rhythm or the character (a driver) rather than the objects. It helped to think in terms of film or song titles that hinge on a role or a job, not the objects pictured.

Do you think the problem is that we expect there to be a clean 1 to 1 mapping? Sometimes the clue leans on a shared cultural thread, and if you’re missing that thread you bypass the mental shortcut and stall.

Anyway, I try quick tests: pick a plausible category, jot two or three likely titles, see which one vibe matches. If nothing fits in five minutes I move on and come back later; the pressure to solve right away is real and makes it worse.
