How does pelvic floor dysfunction relate to my lower abdominal pain?
#1
I’ve been experiencing a persistent, dull ache in my lower abdomen for about three weeks now, and my doctor mentioned it could be related to a pelvic floor dysfunction. I’m not entirely sure what that means for me, or if the discomfort I feel during certain movements is connected.

I had something like this once, a dull ache in the lower belly that showed up after a day of stairs or bending over. It wasn’t sharp, just that heavy, tired feeling. I learned the pelvic muscles sit under the pelvic organs and can get tight or lazy, which can make movement feel off. It would come and go with workouts and stress, and I treated it like a weird muscle thing rather than a red flag.

I tried pelvic floor physical therapy after a doctor suggested it. Weeks of breathing, posture checks, and some gentle releases helped a little at first, but the ache would still come back with groceries or long days on my feet. I kept a tiny log of what aggravated it and what eased it, which helped me notice patterns even if it wasn’t a fix.

I keep thinking maybe it’s pelvic floor dysfunction, since the ache sits in that area and can feel tight or uncomfortable with certain moves. But I also worry it could be something else, like a generic muscle strain or even digestion playing tricks, so I’m not sure what’s really going on.

Three weeks in is enough time to ask for a closer look. Do you think you should push for imaging or a second opinion, or is this the sort of thing you ride out with rest and a few visits to a PT?
