How faithful is the Road House reboot when the tone changes?
#1
I just watched the new Road House, and I’m honestly torn. I loved the original’s cheesy, over-the-top vibe, but this one feels so serious and slick that it’s almost a different genre. Does changing the tone that much still count as a faithful reboot, or does it lose the spirit of what made the first one memorable?

Saw it last weekend. The tone shift is real; it feels like a different movie. It has grit, but the goofy, popcorn vibe from the original is gone.

I still think a reboot can be faithful even with a different mood. If the core idea of a swaggering bouncer with a code is there, maybe that's enough, just not as goofy.

Not sure what the real problem is, though. Maybe the pacing or the jokes missing? I kept expecting a one-liner that never lands.

And then the soundtrack and lighting pull you in, then pull you out again. When the action hits, it lands, but the overall vibe never matches the original's lightness.
