How long does motion sickness from smooth locomotion last on quest 3?
#1
I just got a Quest 3 and I'm trying to figure out how to handle movement in games like Into the Radius. The smooth locomotion makes me feel a bit queasy after a while, but teleporting breaks my immersion completely. I’m curious if that initial discomfort with artificial movement ever really goes away, or if I just need to stick with one method and power through it.

I started with smooth locomotion and got queasy after just a few minutes. Breaks helped, and I fiddled with the controls— slower speed, a gentler acceleration curve, and a vignette that darkens the edges as you move. After a few weeks I could last longer, but the queasiness came back in certain areas of Into the Radius anyway.

I tried sticking with teleporting. It felt jarring at first, like I lost momentum, but there was none of the dizziness. I settled into a rhythm: aim, teleport, stop, breathe. It never felt cinematic, but it kept me playing longer without wrecking my day.

Do you think this is really about the motion method or something deeper about how our brains expect movement in VR?

I drifted off topic for a minute and blamed the room lighting and headset weight, but I keep coming back to the same thing: maybe there isn't a single answer. I guess you just try a mix, log what helps, and accept some compromise.
