How long should I leave my electric car plugged in at shared charging spots?
#1
I just got my first EV and I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle charging at my apartment complex. They have a few shared Level 2 stations, but I'm worried about etiquette—how long is too long to leave my car plugged in after it's full, especially if others are waiting?

I try to unplug within a minute or two after the charge hits 100. If someone’s waiting, I unplug right away and move my car to a noncharging space or a regular spot so the next person can use it.

I’ve wasted time waiting with the plug in longer than necessary before. It feels tense. Now I watch the gauge and the queue, and I pull the plug as soon as it’s full if there’s a line.

My habit is to cap at 80 percent if I know the complex will be busy. It’s not perfect, but it frees the charger sooner. If I really need the extra range, I’ll handle it elsewhere later.

Is there a posted policy at your complex? That would help avoid the back-and-forth.
