How should i run a fair garden club giveaway?
#1
I’m trying to organize a small giveaway for our local gardening club’s online members, but I’m stuck on how to pick the winners fairly. I’ve seen some people use random comment pickers, while others insist on a creative entry requirement. What’s the best way to handle this so it feels fun and legitimate for everyone involved?

We did a lottery style draw last year for our online gardening club. Everyone who commented on the post qualified, duplicates were kept out, and we used a simple generator to pick the winner. It felt fair and transparent, and folks seemed okay with it.

We tried a creative entry approach once, asking people to post a photo of their best bean trellis and a tip. Engagement spiked for a bit, but it left out members who are shy about posting or less active online.

Do you really need a creative entry, or is a straightforward draw enough to keep it inclusive?

We ended up with a hybrid: one prize to a commenter chosen by chance and another to the most helpful tip shared. It keeps the process simple while still giving some personality to the club, though it invites debate about what counts as 'helpful'.
