How should we read that salty rotisserie chicken return video?
#1
I saw a video of a guy trying to return a half-eaten rotisserie chicken to a big box store, claiming it was "too salty," and it's really got me thinking. Where do we draw the line with this kind of thing, and why does part of me feel secondhand embarrassment but also a weird admiration for the audacity?

That clip stuck with me because it sits in that awkward space between a real complaint and a performance. I felt secondhand embarrassment, and at the same time I kind of admire the audacity to push back like that.

I’ve tried pushing back on returns before, but never something like a half eaten rotisserie chicken. The whole thing turned into a drawn out negotiation, and in the end I left with a headache and a wasted trip.

Maybe the real issue isn’t the chicken at all but how we draw lines around what counts as a fair return. Sometimes I wonder if the policy was written for sensible moments or dramatic ones.

I keep thinking about it while I shop and I’m not sure if the problem is the product or the vibes in the aisle, like we’re all auditioning for a small moral victory.
