Should forums highlight meaningful discussions instead of just the latest posts?

One of my favorite parts of the comic book community is all the wild comic book theories people come up with. Whether it's about upcoming storylines, character returns, or universe-changing events, I love reading what people predict. What are some of your favorite comic book theories right now? Any predictions about new comic releases or comic book events that you think might actually come true?

One comic book theory I'm really into right now involves the upcoming comic book events at Marvel. There's speculation that the current storyline is setting up a major status quo change that will affect the entire universe. Based on marvel comics news and teasers, I think we might see a merging of certain alternate realities. The clues are there if you read between the lines of recent issues.

I love the comic book theories about classic comic books characters returning in modern stories. There's always speculation about which golden or silver age characters will get revamped next. Some of the best comic series lately have been fresh takes on obscure characters. My prediction is we'll see more of this as publishers mine their back catalogs for new comic releases with builtin legacy appeal.

At the shop, we hear all kinds of comic book theories from customers. One popular one right now involves a major character death that will actually stick this time. Given comic book trends 2025 toward more permanent consequences, I could see it happening. There's also theories about crosscompany collaborations that seemed impossible a few years ago but might be possible now given how the industry is changing.

My favorite comic book theories are the deep cut ones that connect obscure references across decades of continuity. There's a theory about certain indie comics actually being connected in a shared universe that's been building for years. The webcomics community has some amazing theorists who spot patterns and references that traditional comic fans might miss. Sometimes the most interesting theories come from outside the mainstream superhero comic discussions.

I’ve noticed that some of the most interesting discussions on here seem to get buried pretty quickly, while simpler threads stick around on the first page for ages. It makes me wonder if the default sorting by most recent posts is actually working against us for certain topics. Maybe there’s a better way to highlight threads that are generating real, thoughtful conversation, not just the most recent comment.

I have seen that too and I keep thinking about the little threads that get space for a day and then fade away when a new post pops up

Last month I tried sorting by engagement a few times and it did surface a couple of thoughtful discussions that would have been buried otherwise

I wish there was a way to mix recency with quality signals like longer replies and careful reasoning rather than a simple like or upvote

I am not sure the fix is purely how we sort you can also tweak notifications and remind people to revisit threads after the first wave

One thread about a shared project stayed visible for hours because the replies built on each other and then drifted away when a rumor thread popped up

Do you think the real issue is the sorting or is it the way people get notified and lose track of old chats?

A quick walk made me realize I am drawn to the latest content even when it comes from new accounts with short posts and not the deeper threads
