Should i add more case fans or rethink my airflow setup for cooler gpu temps?

I’ve been trying to get my new build to run cooler, but I can’t decide if I should just add more case fans or if I need to completely rethink my airflow setup. My GPU hits 83°C under load even with a decent fan curve, and I’m worried that just adding more fans might just create more noise without actually solving the problem.

I tried something similar last month. I added two 120mm fans for better intake and a rear exhaust, and while the case felt livelier, the GPU staying around 82–85C under load didn't disappear. It helped the general temps a bit and cut noise from the GPU fan's ramp, but it wasn't a magic fix.

I keep thinking the problem might be the seating of the GPU cooler or thermal paste, not the fans. I had a minor reseat and re-applied paste once and temps dropped a bit, but it's hard to tell if that was the fix or just luck.

If you want a direction, try validating the airflow path rather than just adding fans. Make sure front and bottom intakes are bringing in fresh air and that heat has a clear exit. Could the real issue be how the air travels through the case rather than how much air you move?

I did a quick experiment with cables, moved a power cable out of the GPU bay and noticed the GPU fan ramp notching a bit slower, silly little effect, but it reminded me airflow is messy and not just about numbers.
