Should I buy a Comic-Con weekend pass if panels are always packed?

I’m trying to decide if I should buy a weekend pass for Comic-Con this year, but I’m worried the main hall panels will be so packed I won’t actually get into anything I want to see. Has anyone else felt like the big convention experience is becoming more about waiting in lines than actually enjoying the events?

Yeah I did a weekend pass a couple times. The big panels were jammed and it felt like I spent more time in lines than actually watching. Still, wandering between booths and talking to other fans kind of counts as part of the trip.

Now I skip the main hall and chase the smaller talks and indie creator stuff. The lines are there, but you can find a few worth it moments in overflow rooms.

One year I mapped out a full schedule, showed up early, and ended up dropping half of it because the line moves slower than my coffee.

There is a weird energy in the queue though—people banter, someone does a quick cosplay trivia, you end up making a plan with strangers.

I bought a weekend pass, but I mostly used it for the vendor hall; the panels I wanted to see required more patience than I had.

I still go, but I pick a couple things and let the rest be. The whole thing feels like a marathon of waiting, but sometimes a panel sneaks in.

Do you think the real issue is the crowd size or the way the main hall panels are scheduled?
