Should I buy on Steam or Epic Games Store for a better library and workshop?

I've been trying to decide whether to buy a game on Steam or directly through the Epic Games Store, since the price is the same. I'm just not sure if the social features and workshop support I'd get on one platform are worth losing the convenience of having all my games consolidated in a single library.

I stuck with Steam for the workshop and social stuff. It felt great to see mods, guides, and the friends list in one place. The price was roughly the same, but the pain came when you wanted to jump between stores for different games. I keep wishing the library could just be one place.

I tried using the other store as the base and occasionally picked up a title on Steam for the workshop, but the back-and-forth felt heavier than I expected.

I opened both libraries and spun up a mod install; it was a mess to manage saves and launches across clients, so I shelved the experiment.

Do you actually care about social features, or would you rather keep everything in one place even if you miss mod support?

The social parts felt unreliable at times—friend activity would lag or chats would vanish, which made me doubt how much I rely on them.

I ended up choosing convenience in the moment and bought where it was easiest, but the nagging thought about missing features still sits.
