Should I buy the PS5 version or PS4 with better DualSense haptics?

I just got a PS5 and I'm trying to decide which version of a game to buy when it's available on both PS4 and PS5. The price difference is pretty big, but I keep hearing about the DualSense controller's haptic feedback being a game-changer. Is that feature really worth the extra twenty bucks on its own, or is it more of a neat gimmick you forget about after an hour?

I bought the PS5 version when I could have saved twenty by going PS4. The DualSense haptic feedback felt novel at first—little cues when you brake in a racer or when you reload in a shooter. After about a week I mostly stopped noticing it, and the extra twenty bucks didn’t feel worth it for me.

In some games it shines, in others it’s almost invisible. If you’re into driving sims or melee combat, you’ll notice the controller stuff more and it can add a little immersion. In a slow RPG or a standard shooter it’s easy to forget about it and just play.

Maybe the real issue isn’t the feature itself but how we justify the price. I keep thinking about the money and whether the upgrade will be worth it over the life of the game. For now I’m sticking with the PS4 version and waiting for a clear reason to upgrade.

I tried both versions for a couple of evenings and kept a tiny log of when I noticed anything new. It was only a handful of moments and then nothing felt different. I didn’t feel like upgrading was worth the extra cash.
